2015 - 2016
HSIR wins Student organization of the YEAR!
UC Hastings Student Services recognized HSIR as Organization of the Year! HSIR could not have done it with out the support of the community, students and partners with whom we planned and coordinated in order to get stuff done!
Here are a few things that were said in HSIR’s nominations:
I nominate HSIR – Hastings Students for Immigrants’ Rights for their pro bono work throughout the academic year which is emblematic of their mission.
These students are doing amazing work for the larger underserved communities beyond the Bay Area, promoting meaningful pro bono, as well as mentoring of each other as students in all three years come together to provide services.
This group continues to grow and help provide legal services to under-served communities in California. They went on their third annual PILARC trip this year in which the organization partnered with CRLA to provide legal services and conduct surveys regarding the rights of mobile home tenants and owners in Marysville, CA. They also went on a trip to Salinas California with One Justice to host a naturalization and DACA clinic, again to help serve this under-served community.
This is an organization that gives Hastings a good name and which Hastings should be proud to have.

Ninth Circuit OBservation: Friday 10/23 @8:30 am
There's a great docket of immigration cases in the specific courtroom listed in the attached photo. The Ninth Circuit is only a couple of blocks from UCH and it's a beautiful courthouse built in 1905 and located at 95 7th Street. We want to meet at the BEACH beforehand and head out around 8:30 a.m. to the courthouse. Leave your bags at home since security is tight. Come for one case, or stay for all five of them~
